CobbMeter is a specialized medical tool designed for the precise measurement of the Cobb angle, kyphosis angle, and sacral slope on vertical spine radiographs. This application targets spinal care professionals, effectively transforming the iPhone into an advanced measuring instrument.

Dr. Frederic Jacquot remarks on the inception of CobbMeter: "Collaborating with Regis Rigal, I aimed to create a professional tool that I had always required for my daily practice in both orthopedic spine surgery and non-operative spinal care." He highlights the practicality of having such a tool conveniently located within a device he already uses for mobilizing his busy schedule. The app can be accessed quickly via an icon, allowing for accurate measurements of spinal deformities through standard radiographs or vertical computer screens.

The functionality is straightforward: by aligning the side of the iPhone with established tracings, users can rely on the built-in position sensor to perform the necessary calculations. The device boasts a remarkable precision of 0.1 degrees, significantly exceeding typical measurements referenced in clinical practice and existing literature.

CobbMeter not only logs measurements for future reference but also facilitates sharing via email, including essential details such as curve levels, type of curve, and patient identifiers. Additionally, a calibration procedure has been integrated to ensure accurate measurement relative to the horizontal plane for assessing the sacral slope.

Dr. Jacquot acknowledges Regis' extraordinary patience and impressive programming skills throughout the development phase, resulting in a tool finely attuned to the requirements of surgeons and spine care providers aimed at optimizing patient treatment.
